Afternoon Ashtanga Mysore Practice

Urdhva Padmasana or the Upward Lotus Posture is one of the challenging inverted posture and an extension of Saravangasana or the Shoulderstand for me in the Closing Sequence of the Ashtanga Yoga System. But today this happened and I’m totally amused that finally I didn’t modify the posture. hooray for progress! 🙏Namasté

Thought via Path

To serve with the heart, with love is to guarantee success.

Projection: When I have to be of help to others, I sometimes find myself doing it with force. I don’t seem to be really interested in doing it but situations or people seem to be forcing me to do it. I then don’t enjoy what I do and also don’t find the benefit of it either to others or to myself.

Solution: I need to consciously make an effort to see what people are benefitting when I am helping them. With this conscious effort I am able to help others with love without feeling the heaviness of what I have to do. Thus I find my actions to be much more fruitful. 🙏Om Shanti at Patrick’s Mini Yoga Shala – Read on Path.

With the balance of love and discipline, energy can be saved while speaking.

Projection: Throughout the day I find myself having to give explanations or corrections to so many people. When I do this I find that I have to spend a lot of words. In the process I tend to lose a lot of my energy and find myself tired.

Solution: In order to save my energy and to use fewer words I need to have the balance of love and discipline. Discipline will enable me to give the right directions while love will make my directions effective. So I find that just a few words would be enough to get my message across. 🙏Om Shanti – Read on Path.

Surrendering all my worries, guilt, anger, depression and negativity in Karnapidasana or the Ear Pressure Pose.

In this posture, which is part of the Closing Sequence in the Ashtanga Yoga System, I feel the sensation of being calm, nurtured, and in a safe place. I listened to the sound of my heartbeat. I meditated on the gratitude towards a healthy heart that beats with life and healing. I let my breath be calm, smooth, and steady. I inhaled safely and confidently and I exhaled all my unhealthy isolation. I renewed my hopes and dreams in this calming but energy releasing posture.

Today is a great day and I feel good and my heart is light and happy! Thank you @annadromeda and @yogaforlife_ph family for the wonderful class earlier! 🙏Namasté

Morning Heart Opening Vinyasa

My week has been an emotional turmoil and Yoga just kept me sane from the sad reality of what is happening to me right now. I remember my teacher said that once I am inside my mat no one needs me and once I step out if it again the whole world needs me again to follow the norms dictated by the society, my job and a whole lot more.

One of the best ways I know to keep the dark clouds at bay is to do yoga asanas that opens the chest, home of the heart. BKS Iyengar, one of the greatest living yoga guru who is responsible for introducing yoga to the west, says, “If you keep your armpits open, you won’t get depressed.” It may sound like a crazy advice but think about the typical posture of a depressed person: head hanging low, chin drooping, shoulders rounded forward and heart completely closed off. Definitely not a good feeling.

Doing even a simple heart-opening asana like this Upward Facing Dog or the Urdhva Mukha Svanasana allows our collar bones to spread, our chest to expand, and our entire heart area to be flooded with space, lightness, and oxygen. 🙏Namasté
